A pumping visit costs a fraction of what a drain field replacement does, and it’s the difference between a system that reaches the far end of that 40-year range and one that needs major work well before its time.
Factors You Can’t Control, and How to Work Around Them
Soil type isn’t something you can change. If your property sits on the Piedmont red clay common through Cherokee, Forsyth, Cobb, Bartow, Pickens, and Paulding counties, your drain field starts with a narrower margin than one on sandier ground, regardless of how well you maintain it. The workaround isn’t fighting the soil — it’s compensating for it through more attentive maintenance and faster response to early warning signs, since a field on tight clay has less room for a small problem to sit unaddressed before it becomes a bigger one.
Weather is the same story.
